Bollywood newcomer Amy Jackson is following the footsteps of other B-town celebs, by shooting a campaign with PETA to help encourage people to adopt homeless animals.

Bollywood has been on the PETA wagon for a while now and it seems the trend is only growing. The purpose of the campaign is to promote animal adoption and to stop animal cruelty all together. The actress is featured in the ad with a cat, which she rescued when he was just 6-weeks-old.

“We can stop the cycle of animal homelessness and save lives by opening our hearts and homes to a loving cat or dog from an animal shelter instead of buying animals from breeders or pet shops.”

“Every time someone buys a cat or a dog from a breeder or a pet shop, a cat on the streets or in an animal shelter loses his or her chance at finding a good home,” says the British model-actress.

Stars like John Abraham, Shilpa Shetty, Ayushmann Khurrana and Imran Khan have also supported PETA causes in recent years.

Right on, Bollywood!

Newcomer Anand Gandhi can count Ranbir Kapoor among his fans as the director’s debut film, ‘Ship of Theseus‘, impressed many of Bollywood’s brightest stars at a special screening on July 16th.  Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao helped organize the screening and Katrina Kaif, Rani Mukerji, Priyanka Chopra, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Rajkumar Hirani were among those who attended.

When asked about his impressions concerning the film Ranbir didn’t mince his praise, saying “It was a very wonderful film, very powerful. I don’t think any other film has moved me so much as ‘Ship Of Theseus‘ .”

3 Idiots‘ director Rajkumar Hirani was even more effusive in his praise for the film saying  “This is a film that kind of shakes you from the soul. The film has been made so realistically that I just don’t have words … people have to watch the film to see how it can shake you up. Now it feels that the kind of cinema that we have been making so far is so inconsequential and small.”

According to director Ghandi the film explores “questions of identity, justice, beauty, meaning and death through the stories of an experimental photographer, an ailing monk and an enterprising stockbroker.” The film’s name comes from an age old paradox first posed by Plutarch that asks whether an object that has all it’s parts replaced remains fundamentally the same object.

The film is scheduled for release in India July 19th, here’s a trailer:
