Check out the cast of the upcoming movie, ‘Happy New Year’ at the Twitter headquarters in San Francisco. Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Farah Khan and others from the film posed with the CEO of Twitter Dick Costolo yesterday.

The B-town stars are out promoting their new action comedy-drama and they seem to be creating a buzz in a new type of way. The crew also visited the Google headquarters just hours before. They later participated in a live question and answer session on Twitter premises, which was reported to be a full house.  HA! Shocking! ;)

Salman Khan looks to ‘Kick” SRK out of Top Spot on Eid!

photo:salmankingdom.com

Looks like Salman Khan is trying to regain his spot on top of the Bollywood mountain as his new movie ‘Kick‘ has opened to stellar box office returns already since its July 25 release. Many Bollywood movies look to capitalize on the traditionally strong release date of Eid, a festival that marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, and Shah Rukh Khan was no different last year with his box office hit ‘Chennai Express‘. Salman probably felt a bit slighted as his films usually ruled the Bollywood screens on Eid, with his past films ‘Wanted‘, ‘Dabaang‘, and the 4th highest grossing Bollywood film ‘Ek Tha Tiger‘ representing his recent stranglehold on the holiday. Well, ‘Kick’ is off to a good start as it has already made 86 crore (roughly $14.5 million) in its opening weekend.

‘Kick‘ is an action-romance hybrid in which Salman plays a character named Devil who seeks to truly seize the moment everyday, resulting in action packed scenes that even have Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan taking notice. Amitabh was so impressed with ‘Kick’s chase sequence, supposedly the longest ever in a Bollywood film, that he took a shot at Hollywood when he stated “Did you see the trailer of ‘KICK’..baaadooom !! Compares with anything that the other ‘wood’ brings out from their high end films ! See for yourself” and linked to a trailer of ‘Kick’.

Here’s that trailer of ‘Kick’, which also features co-star Jacquline Fernandez….

Well, what do you think folks? Will Salman take down Shah Rukh on Eid in this battle for Bollywood supremacy? Will ‘Kick‘ put ‘Chennai Express’ on a slow train to nowhere? I guess you’ll just have to stay tuned….

Hollywood Meets Bollywood in Tampa for IIFA Awards!

Hollywood icons John Travolta and Kevin Spacey took part in all the fun this past weekend as Tampa welcomed the first ever IIFA Awards held in the United States to town. Festivities kicked off with Travolta and Spacey joining Bollywood megastars Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshone, and Anil Kapoor, among others, on stage for many song and dance routines that reflected Travolta’s musical film past along with Bollywood’s affinity for musicals both past, present, and future.

A lucky 20,000 people caught this year’s IIFA Awards show, which is slated for release on worldwide television in June, and IIFA said it expects 800 million people to ultimately watch the awards show as Bollywood continues to increase its global footprint.

Travolta was presented with an award for his contribution to international film and gushed afterwards about the proceedings. “The first musical number, it was, wow, that was amazing,” Travolta opined on Saturday. “I find Indian films very original in energy and life. Every time I’ve had an opportunity to sing or dance in a movie, it’s been glorious … I think we’re simpatico. I would love for the Bollywood influence to actually infiltrate and give Hollywood more confidence in musicals and dance. Musicals in Hollywood are sporadic.”

Travolta had an impromptu chance to relive his ‘Saturday Night Fever’ days with star Hrithik Roshone as the latter presented him with his career achievement award.

Kevin Spacey also wowed the crowd with his dance with the big winner of the night Deepika Padukone to the tune of the ‘Lungi Dance’ and even donned the song’s signature wrap around over his tux for the show-stealing performance at the star-studded event. The Oscar-winning star of classics such as ‘American Beauty’ and ‘The Usual Suspects’ seems to have enjoyed himself as he said ‘It is great to be here and see the performances at IIFA.’

Bollywood stole the selfie trend from Hollywood as Anupam Kher tweeted a selfie with Spacey, Priyanka Chopra, Arshad Warsi, Aftab Shivdasani, Ritesh Deshmukh and Rajiv Kapoor where everyone seems to be having a great time from IIFA!

That’s right! Bollywood’s Sonakshi Sinha will be lending her voice to the Hollywood flick, Rio 2. The English version of the film will be released on April 11th and we hear Imran Khan will also be joining the actress for the project.

Fox’s Rio 2 in 3D, is said to be dubbed in multiple languages. Although Bollywood has lent their voices to Hollywood in the past, this will be on a much greater scale, according to reports. The movie will feature the return of Blu, Jewel and their three kids, who leave their boring life searching for adventure in the Amazon rainforest.

The beautiful actress is thrilled and had this to say, “I enjoyed dubbing for Rio 2 because its such a fun film, and I felt like Imran and myself were perfect for the characters of Blu and Jewel! There’s a scene where Jewel is dancing and singing so they made me sing a few lines as well! It was such a new experience, I would have even loved to sing more, but unfortunately I am only a bathroom singer.
Other information has not been released but we’re eagerly anticipating the release!
