Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut’s latest film, Queen, will premiere at the 18th Busan International Film Festival, in South Korea.

The film tells a tale about a girl from Delhi who travels across the world for the first time.  It is reported the film was shot in 147 different locations.  Director Vikas Bahl is excited to showcase the film on an international level.  “We are quite happy to have a World Premiere at the prestigious Busan Film Festival. I am very excited that a film about a simple girl from Delhi is being recognized and appreciated internationally. It’s good to know that a human story always finds a universal audience. The team is getting ready to go to Busan…”, said the director.

His earlier project, Chillar Party won multiple National Awards and he’s hoping Queen will deliver similar results.

Queen, which is produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Phantom Films, will have three screenings under the “Window of Asian Cinema” category.  The Busan International Film festival has increasingly grown over the past years,  and serves as a great outlet for filmmakers to gain international exposure.

The film is set to release on February 28th 2014.

After receiving widespread acclaim from across the globe, Life of Pi actor, Irrfan Khan is confident that his upcoming flick, The Lunchbox, will make it to the Oscars.

Directed by Ritesh Batra, the film has received a positive response from film festivals world-wide.  It even won the Critic’s Week Viewers Choice Award at Cannes earlier this year.  So, could Irrfan be right?  “The opinion that critics and audiences have and also of those whose opinion matters, they believe if the film is sent from India (for the Oscars), it has the potential to travel forward,” said the actor.

Adding “Hollywood Reporter (tabloid) has also written that ‘we expect the film to be Oscar entry from India’. So this is a possibility with the film. It has this strength, universal appeal, fresh language and story.”

The 46-year old actor feels this is a “huge opportunity and should not be missed out on.”  The movie is set to release on September 20, 2013, and also stars actors Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

When asked why he feels so strongly about this particular film, he replied “The right film should be chosen. It affects the environment, the upcoming generation, it becomes a source of inspiration, it builds our morale that our language can connect with the global world. This perception is not right that only a certain types of films are made in India. Cinema is being explored and flourishing. So, this decision is very important.
