Pakistani Bollywood actress, Veena Malik and then boyfriend Ashmit Patel were on the radar for getting hot and heavy in the season 4 of Big Boss, but when it comes to intimate scenes in the movies, the diva says “it’s very tough.”

The bombshell parted with ex-boyfriend Ashmit Patel in 2011, and was reunited with him in the erotic thriller,  ‘Super Model,’ directed by Navin Batra.  Audiences everywhere were eager to see the on-screen chemistry between the two, but Veena tells sources it wasn’t an easy task working with her former flame. “It was very tough to shoot intimate scenes together… I have never been through such trauma. A person you talk to everyday, is so close and then you are not even looking at each other. During the shoot of the movie we weren’t even talking to each other, we had a cold war going on,” Veena told sources.

The ex-couple is okay with having a “work relationship” and will not allow their personal issues to interfere with their professional lives.

“We have come to a point where we will keep bumping into each other, we have to live in the same industry so it is important to make peace. I have great regard for Ashmit. He has been a strong support for me and after ‘Supermodel’ I realized that we can work together. I would love to do more films with him.” Veena said in a statement.

‘Super model’ was released on September 27 of this year.

After receiving widespread acclaim from across the globe, Life of Pi actor, Irrfan Khan is confident that his upcoming flick, The Lunchbox, will make it to the Oscars.

Directed by Ritesh Batra, the film has received a positive response from film festivals world-wide.  It even won the Critic’s Week Viewers Choice Award at Cannes earlier this year.  So, could Irrfan be right?  “The opinion that critics and audiences have and also of those whose opinion matters, they believe if the film is sent from India (for the Oscars), it has the potential to travel forward,” said the actor.

Adding “Hollywood Reporter (tabloid) has also written that ‘we expect the film to be Oscar entry from India’. So this is a possibility with the film. It has this strength, universal appeal, fresh language and story.”

The 46-year old actor feels this is a “huge opportunity and should not be missed out on.”  The movie is set to release on September 20, 2013, and also stars actors Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

When asked why he feels so strongly about this particular film, he replied “The right film should be chosen. It affects the environment, the upcoming generation, it becomes a source of inspiration, it builds our morale that our language can connect with the global world. This perception is not right that only a certain types of films are made in India. Cinema is being explored and flourishing. So, this decision is very important.

‘Pacific Rim’ Battles Into Theatres This Weekend!

This is shaping up to be another big weekend as Guillermo Del Toro‘s robots versus monsters epic finally drops into theaters.  The film centers around the battle between humanity and Kaiju, literally the Japanese word for monsters, in the year 2020.  Humanity has created the Jaegers, giant mechanized robots controlled by two pilots whose minds are connected by a neural bridge, to defeat the Kaiju.

Pacific Rim‘ is interesting because it has no huge stars attached and is an original in a summer of reboots and sequels.  The film does star Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Rob Krazinsky, and Del Toro mainstay Ron Perlman. Despite a lack of bankable, A-list stars the film’s budget is around $175 million because of all the CGI (computer generated imagery) and the grand scale of the film.

This is Del Toro’s first turn at directing since 2008’s ‘Hellboy II‘ and has fueled speculation that his delayed film/passion project based on H.P. Lovecraft‘s  classic horror story ‘At the Mountains of Madness‘ may be a go after all.

Here is a featurette that shows how Del Toro’s team developed the monsters in the film:

‘Pacific Rim’ hits theaters July 12 and here’s a trailer to wet your appetities!
