Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra is calling Mallika Sherawat’s statement about India “unfair”  and an “extreme misrepresentation” of  the country.

Bollywood actress Mallika Sherwat recently made a statement calling India a “regressive nation for women” on an international platform. According to sources, Priyanka strongly disagrees with Mallika.

I think we are a progressive nation. I disagree that we are a regressive nation. We are all sitting here and talking about educating the girl child, taking our country forward. I think it’s a misrepresentation of what our great nation is on the world platform,” said Priyanka.

She continued: “When it comes to Mallika’s statements, I think they were very callous and I don’t agree with her. It was upsetting for me as a woman. It was upsetting for me as a girl who comes from India. I think it was extreme misrepresentation of our nation. I don’t think it’s fair.”

Mallika has done numerous international projects and currently resides in Los Angeles. The 36-year-old made her debut in Bollywood back in 2003 with Khwahish. Shes worked on The Myth with Jackie Chan in 2005. Followed by Hisss and Politics of Love.

Chopra has been training religiously to fit the part of Mary Kom– but if you look at the real Mary Kom, she looks absolutely nothing like Priyanka Chopra. So how will they pull this off? According to sources, they will be creating her look in the post-production stage at Shah Rukh Khan’s VFX Studios, making Priyanka look more oriental by digitally modifying her face.”The film is about a woman boxing champion and there are a number of sequences in the boxing ring. Obviously, there will be a lot of punching on the face and head, so prosthetics may not last. To help Priyanka get that authentic look, technicians will be working on giving her the Northeastern features in the post-production VFX stage,” says  a source according to The Times of India.

Director Omung Kumar hasn’t confirmed exactly which route they are taking for makeup , but they are looking into all options to make this work.

“It’s humiliating. They don’t even disclose the reason,” says Irrfan, who is one of the most recognized actors from India. He’s been in films such as the Oscar-winner ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, ‘Life of Pi’ and crowd pleaser ‘Spider-Man’.

Irrfan was detained twice at LAX back in 2008 and JFK in 2009. However, Irrfan isn’t the only Khan to have faced such issues in US airports. Shahrukh Khan also had problems traveling back and forth from India and has been quite vocal about it.

Looks like celebs don’t get special treatment when it comes to safety after all.
