Hollywood’s favorite Indian import Irrfan Khan is heading back to the small screen with a new show called ‘Emergency Room‘ on National Geographic Channel.  National Geographic Channel, in association with Medanta Hospital in Delhi, is launching the show in support of Nat Geo’s ‘Be Emergency Ready!‘ initiative in India.

When asked about the show Irrfan said “There is a certain negligence and dehumanization that plagues the society today. I am glad that a credible entity like National Geographic Channel has come forth to take forward this cause. I am happy and proud to be a part of this campaign and will do my bit in educating audiences. It will also be insightful for the viewers to watch the show ‘Emergency Room’ and recognize real life tensions and how it affects those who are dealing with it.”

The show will give viewers a look into the hectic efforts of the emergency room medical staff at Medanta Hospital in attempting to save patients’ lives when they are admitted with Irrfan ostensibly providing a voiceover narrative to their efforts.  Fans need not worry, as Irrfan will be seen in a slew of upcoming movies including 2014’s ‘Gunday‘ with Priyanka Chopra and Ranveer Singh that he is currently shooting.

“It’s humiliating. They don’t even disclose the reason,” says Irrfan, who is one of the most recognized actors from India. He’s been in films such as the Oscar-winner ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, ‘Life of Pi’ and crowd pleaser ‘Spider-Man’.

Irrfan was detained twice at LAX back in 2008 and JFK in 2009. However, Irrfan isn’t the only Khan to have faced such issues in US airports. Shahrukh Khan also had problems traveling back and forth from India and has been quite vocal about it.

Looks like celebs don’t get special treatment when it comes to safety after all.
