What is World SannaKhan and what do we do?

Simply put, World SannaKhan is the online intersection where Bollywood Meets Hollywood.  As the world increasingly becomes interconnected through technology and the mass-dissemination of information it is inevitable that cultures will interact as never before.  Bollywood, not Hollywood, is in actuality the world’s largest film industry in film output and it’s worldwide influence is growing every year.  For instance, did you know that India’s Reliance Entertainment has been an equal partner in Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks Studios since 2009?

Bollywood can be loosely defined as the Indian film industry and is based in Mumbai, India.  Both Bollywood and Hollywood have their own firmament of stars, and we here at World SannaKhan intend to cover them both. We keep you informed with daily news, interviews, event coverage and other cultural movers and shakers that interest you most.

It all started when former Radio DesiBeat Radio Jockey, Sanna Khan AKA Sunny D, noticed that Hollywood and Bollywood’s worlds were increasingly intermingling with Indian/Pakistani actors appearing more and more in American productions and vice versa. Mainstream Hollywood stars such as Tom Cruise, John Hamm, and others have voiced their interest in appearing in Bollywood movies and Bollywood has increasingly drawn on Hollywood talent, onscreen and otherwise, to produce films.  Seizing on this unique moment in the history of both Bollywood and Hollywood, Sanna Khan decided to create a site dedicated to the coverage of both industries and thus, World SannaKhan was born!

The film stars ‘Mad Men‘ actor Jon Hamm and is being directed by Craig Gillespie , with screenplay written by Thomas McCarthy.

The flick focuses on two Indian guys, Rinku Singh and Dinesh Kumar, who created history in 2008 when they were signed by the prestigious baseball team Pittsburgh Pirates. The two won the deal after winning the “Million Dollar Arm” contest held in India, in which more than 30,000 Indian youths were said to have participated.

Very cool!
