King Khan Richer Than Tom Cruise!!!

In some surprising news, Bollywood’s biggest star topped anything Hollywood has to offer as the latest figures show that Shah Rukh Khan earned $48 million dollars last year alone on his way to a personal net worth estimated at $600 million. SRK earned this mostly from endorsement deals as King Khan earned $5 million for last year’s hit ‘Chennai Express’.

Tom Cruise, in comparison, comes in at an almost paltry by comparison $400 million. As for others on the list hailing from Bollywood, Salman Khan is second with an estimated $200 million and Amir Khan is not far behind with $180 million.

Bollywood finds itself in good company in the global wealth race as Shah Rukh Khan is topped only by comedian Jerry Seinfeld’s $820 million fortune and tied by Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor’s $600 million fortune.

Others on the list include Mel Gibson at $425 million, Jack Nicholson at $400 million, Johnny Depp at $350 million, Keanu Reeves at $350 million, and Tom Hanks at $350 million.

How does King Khan feel about being more than halfway to a billion dollars in a country where 11.8% of the population falls below the international poverty level of $1.25 of income daily? Shah Rukh says he overcame humble beginnings to become the financial behemoth he is today and was accused of borrowing from author J.K. Rowling when he told an audience “Let me tell you, poverty is not an ennobling experience at all. Poverty entails fear and stress and sometimes, depression. I’ve seen my parents go through it many times — it means a thousand petty humiliations and hardships.”

Well, we’re sure Shah Rukh has made sure that neither he nor his family will ever experience those hardships again with 600 million reasons why! Hooray for Bollywood?!?

Hollywood Director Brett Ratner Huge SRK Fan!!!

It looks like there’s a mutual love-fest going on between bigtime Hollywood director Brett Ratner and Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan as the two have exchanged messages on Twitter.  Fresh on the heels of Hugh Jackman voicing his admiration for SRK’s work, Ratner took to social media to let King Khan know he’s also an ardent admirer.

Ratner, who’s known for directing the ‘Rush Hour‘ series along with ‘X-men: The Last Stand‘, posted “@iamsrk I would love to work with you one day!! Big fan!!!” on SRK’s personal Twitter page.  SRK let Ratner know that he’d love that by tweeting back “@BrettRatner Would be my honour. I am an avid follower of your work & a huge fan of your films. Would love to come & see you work on sets one day.

Ratner is currently producing ‘Hercules: The Thracian Wars‘ on location and tweeted back “@iamsrk It would be an honor to have you on one of my sets. I am shooting Hercules now in Budapest for another month. Please be my guest!“. The film stars Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as the legendary strongman and is slated for a July 25, 2014 release.

No word yet on if SRK has taken up his offer, but we (like most fans) would love to see SRK and Bret team up together for an action flick that would truly bring Bollywood and Hollywood (with lots of explosions, of course…) together!

‘Life of Pi’ actor contemplated quitting films

‘Life of Pi’ star Irrfan Khan claimed to be “bored” at one point, and actually considered giving up acting for good.  Click here to read his interview with Times of India.

Good thing he didn’t quit. Who else could represent Indian actors in Hollywood with such sophistication and strong screen presence?

Is Shahrukh Khan sick of Twitter?

Back in January 2013, King Khan tweeted “Sad,i read so much judgements, jingoism, religious intolerance on the net & i use to think, this platform will change narrowmindedness, but no!.” The actor hasn’t been very active on twitter since.

Many celebs join the social network to increase their popularity and market themselves. Actress Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu and many others in both, Hollywood and Bollywood, interact with their fans on a daily basis.

So could this be the end of Shahrukh’s twitter days? We will have to wait and find out…

Shahrukh Khan knows what’s up!

King Khan is quoted as saying “One needs to have women to have men” and he went on saying “It is important to talk about women who are making progress, taking our country forward and it is time to celebrate a little bit of brightness and positivity.”  Enough said.

The evening was to celebrate the power of women by honoring four Indian women achievers. Sara Pilot, Ritu Beri, Pia Singh and Saina Nehwal, all who have excelled and contributed tremendously in their respective fields.

Now I will qoute from one of my fav Beyonce songs. Ahem….”Who runs the world?!” GIRLS!
