It looks like Hrithik Roshan has overtaken Shah Rukh Khan in one important category, the all-time Indian domestic box-office record as his latest film continues to topple box-office records. ‘Krrish 3‘ has passed SRK’s latest film ‘Chennai Express‘ with a robust $36.3 million domestic box-office take compared to the $36.1 million that ‘Chennai Express‘ generated.

The third installment in Hrithik’s super-hero franchise was once again directed by his father Rakesh Roshan and featured Priyanka Chopra and Vivek Oberoi, among others. Despite the success of the film, ‘Chennai Express‘ still made more money overall as it made $19 million overseas compared to the $6.2 million that ‘Krrish 3‘ took in. If you’re looking for the most successful Bollywood movie of all-time, however, you’ll have to look past dashing superheroes or SRK’s action capers to a comedy. That’s right, Aamir Khan‘s 2009 film ‘3 Idiots‘ still holds the title as the most successful Bollywood movie of all time with over $60 million in box-office receipts.

Look to Aamir Khan to try and break his own record with his latest film (and the third installment of another trilogy) ‘Dhoom 3‘, which is set to be released on December 20th. Aamir plays alongside Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan, and Uday Chopra in the action-thriller that is set in Chicago this time around.  ‘Dhoom 3‘ is the first Indian film to by played in the IMAX format and hits theaters around the Christmas holiday season.

Bollywood megastar Hrithik Roshan is recovering from brain surgery to remedy a chronic subdural haematoma on July 7th.  The procedure was a success according to his father, acting legend Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik even posted the following thumbs up on his twitter account with the words “controlling my environment,” which immediately got 25,000 likes from followers.

Fox Star Studios has delayed completion of Hrithik’s next movie ‘Bang Bang‘, a Bollywood remake of the Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz film ‘Knight and Day‘, due to the star’s health concerns. The 39-year old Roshan is best known for Bollywood hits like ‘Krish‘, ‘Jodhaa Akbar‘, and ‘Agneepath‘.  The unexpected health scare has also delayed Roshan’s work on ‘Krish 3‘, on which he is acting as a producer and assistant director as well as the star of the film.

Following the surgery doctors advised Roshan that he should have four weeks of bed rest, but who knows if the athletic Bollywood star will follow advice with so much on his table.  ‘Krish 3’ is scheduled for release this November 3rd and ‘Bang Bang’ is scheduled for release on May 1st, 2014 following shooting in Thailand and Greece.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Hrithik for a speedy recovery.
