Veteran TV writer and stand-up comedian Sanjay Shah has just sold an autobiographical sitcom to NBC television. The show will center around the experiences of an immigrant family running a fast food restaurant in Sacramento and focus on the two different sons in this family. Sanjay’s own family owns a Burger King restaurant in Sacramento so he will be culling from his own experience.

Sanjay took a circuitous route to Hollywood himself and originally graduated from Berkley. He began doing stand-up and opened for Russel Peters, then co-wrote a widespread video service called Badmashi which did parodies like ‘The Singhsons’, and then moved on to writing for such acclaimed television shows as ‘King of the Hill’, ‘Cougar Town’, ‘South Park’, ‘Enlisted’, ‘and most recently ‘1600 Penn’.

No word on casting or a possible air date as of yet.
