Priyanka Chopra Continues American Push on ‘Nightline’

photo:huffingtonpost.com

Priyanka Chopra is continuing her push to take over America as she appeared in an interview for a segment of ‘Nightline’. The CAA-repped actress (the first Bollywood star to ever be represented by mega-agency American agency CAA…) first began the push with her foray into the music world. She had collaborations with Pitbull on the single ‘Exotic’, previously released the single ‘In My City’ with will.i.am, and has even appeared on the opener for Thursday Night Football.

Priyanka has recently been announced as the face of Guess over the holidays and is getting ready to drop yet another single on American audiences. But is it working? She tells the British interviewer during the segment that America is the ‘Land of Dreams’ and a multicultural melting pot so making it in America is still a possibility.

In an interesting segment surely meant to demonstrate her ‘All-American Appeal’, Indian Chopra squeals with delight when she says American burger chain Jack in the Box and is then shown with a burger in hand. Has her play for American appeal gone too far? Will she alienate her Indian and international followers with this grab for American popularity? It remains to be seen, but her handlers are certainly pushing her crossover appeal pretty hard.

If you want to see exactly what Priyanka has to say regarding her American push, the ‘Nightline’ segment can be seen here.

Aishwariya Rai and Sonam Kapoor Left Out of International Cosmetic Ad?

photo:ndtv.com

photo:ndtv.com

It’s no surprise that the worlds most beautiful woman, Aishwariya Rai, was offered to appear in an international cosmetic advertisement, along with beauties Sonam Kapoor and Hollywood starlet, Freida Pinto.

A few months back a little birdie told us that the diva’s were shooting an international advertisement abroad, and insider’s say Aishwariya shot her portion while in Cannes earlier this year.  Other international cosmetic ambassadors such as; Eva Longoria,  Jane Fonda and Julianne Moore were also present.  The brands spokesperson said, “The campaign for this very exclusive collection has different versions featuring different groups of ambassadors including Aishwarya Rai and Sonam Kapoor.”

Although both actresses were present during the shooting, the only Indian actress seen in the ad was Freida Pinto.  So what happened, you ask?  Well, from the looks of it, both Aishwariya and Sonam did not make the final cut after all. “The ad has been beautifully made with all the actresses looking stunning. But Ash and Sonam’s absence is quite conspicuous and has taken the industry by surprise. Freida is unmistakable in the sequence but the two are nowhere to be seen.” sources said.

Hmm,  so that leaves us a little confused. Why were Aishwariya and Sonam left out?

Bollywood Star Shah Rukh Khan Denied Entrance to 2 Multiplex Cinemas!

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was recently refused permission to promote his latest flick, Chennai Express at Mumbai mall multiplex cinemas.

It’s barely been 2 weeks since the release of Chennai Express, and the movie continues to break records at the box-office.  While the actor is busy promoting his film all over Mumbai, he ran into a little trouble at Mumbai mall multiplex cinemas. Reportedly, Shah Rukh declared that he was denied entry at not one, but TWO multiplex theaters in the city on Thursday.

According to sources, the theaters had tighten their rules to avoid large crowds which can potentially lead to chaos and put the public in danger. The theaters are putting the publics safety first and will not allow any promotions outside or inside the theaters.  Khan tweeted “Have been refrained by authorities from visiting PVR Phoenix Kurla and PVR Phoenix Lower Parel..Will see you at the other enlisted theaters.” Have to avoid visiting PVR Phoenix Kurla and PVR Phoenix Lower Parel. Independence day rush etc. Will see you at rest of the enlisted theaters.” he added

We hear the 47-year-old had approached the owners of the theaters for permission to promote his new film but was later denied access.   A source said,  “SRK had been granted the permission by the multiplexes and it was duly advertised. But at the last minute, the mall owners reversed their decision. The reason provided by them for making a U-turn was that SRK’s presence would bring in huge crowds of people and that at the last minute, they hadn’t been able to arrange for adequate man power to control the swelling crowds. On national holidays, the footfall nearly doubles. But if he still decided to come, we are ready to welcome him.”

The last time when a big star had come for a visit, it had resulted in a lot of property damage amounting to huge losses for the owners. This time they want to play safe,” added a mall employee.

Maybe next time he should bring his co-star Deepika Padukone along with him…no?

Simon Cowell to Launch ‘Got Talent’ in Afghanistan?

photo:televicious.com

Not sure if this will even happen but we thought it was interesting enough to announce (ya never know.)

Simon Cowell’s next stop? Afghanistan of course! This man believes there’s talent “everywhere” and although, there is a war going on in Afghanistan, he see’s no reason why the reality show shouldn’t launch in the country. Simon has always believed `Got Talent` can work anywhere, because no matter where you are, people have amazing talents,” a source said. “There may be a war raging in Afghanistan, but people are still living their lives and they enjoy watching TV just like anyone else. Rules are being drawn up, but there is a possibility troops will be allowed to enter assuming they can get permission,” they added.

The 53-year old Mugol wants to bring entertainment to the people of Afghanistan just like he has in other countries such as: Brazil, Ukraine, India, South Korea and Kazakhstan, to name a few.

Any idea on who the celebrity judges should be??  Good luck with that one Simon ;)
